Boom 3D pour Mac

v2.3.0 is out. Boom 3D v2.2.6 is NOT compatible with macOS 26.5.x. The culprit is likely the BoomAudio sound extension. I've reported the problems to the dev. - - Symptoms include (but are not restricted to) (1) Loss of control of the Mac's volume setting. The available volume settings are either on or off. Therefore, the only volume control is in the Boom 3D app itself, which is remarkably limited. (2) Using System Settings / Sound will lock up its interface, preventing any and all attempts to change settings. This problem can go so far as to stop any and all access to the Sound settings. Conclusion: Nearly total loss of control of the Mac's sound. I suggest Quitting Boom 3D and keeping it off until the faulty version can be replaced by the dev.

Boom 3D works well to boost volume and b****, create equalizer presets for different styles of music, output devices, and even listening environments. However, I have found a strange problem with Boom 3D on macOS 14.7.1 with a M1 Mac Mini connected to desktop speakers from the headphones port. When I tap the volume up or down keys on the Apple Magic Keyboard, the sound mutes instead of going up or down. This does not happen when Boom is off, so I think it has something to do with Boom. I contacted Boom support, and after a delay of 10 days, they responded, suggesting that I try locking the balance of the output device, which did not solve the problem. I told them it didn't work, but they never responded, so I asked how to uninstall Boom 3D correctly. They said they were "sorry for the inconvenience" but didn't ask why I was uninstalling. I also contacted Apple Support, just to make sure they wasn't an issue with the Bluetooth keyboard and even tried a different keyboard, but they weren't aware of any issue.

v2.2.4 is out. Note that they've reestablished a radio listening list. Hurrah. The app has been stable and functional. I put it back to 4 stars. This is a great addition to macOS, when it's working properly.

v2.2.3 is out. "We have fixed a random crash taht occurred when the application was launched." - - Radio status: If you find it's not working by saying it can't find any stations: Quit Boom 3D, reboot it and try again. I got it working on Mac. - - Meanwhilie on iOS: You have to SUBSCRIBE. *shudder* It costs $1.99 per week. There's also the Boom FX subscription, which apparently amounts to a SUBSCRIPTION to TIDAL radio. It has a 3-day free trial. After the trial it's $15 per year. There are currently 90% off offers. - - Throughout this nonsense, I've been interacting with the Dev's "Support". They were nice enough, but knew absolutely nothing about what was going on. I had to tell THEM what was going on as things progressed. That's unacceptable. 😝
